Nearly everyone has blocked a number at some point. Spam call? Blocked. Weird text about a package I didn't order? Blocked. Person I don't want popping up on my phone anymore? Also blocked. But every so often, my blocked list should be edited.

Maybe I blocked the wrong person. Maybe I did it by accident. Maybe I changed my mind.

The thing is, blocking isn't just a call setting. On the iPhone, it affects Messages and FaceTime, too. So sometimes, I need to double-check things. Whatever my reason may be, Apple lets me view and manage blocked contacts pretty easily on the iPhone.

How to quickly find blocked numbers on iPhone

What you'll need: An iPhone running the latest version of iOS 26 and a blocked number.

In "Privacy and Security" settings, tap "Blocked Contacts" to find the list of blocked names, numbers, and emails. This central list is used across Apple's apps. So, if a number is blocked in Messages, it's also blocked in FaceTime and Phone, and it will appear here instead of requiring a separate check in each app's settings.

Look through the list.

Depending on what was blocked and whether the person is saved in Contacts, entries may appear as names, numbers, or emails. They may also be grouped. For instance, I have 105 blocked "Unknown" spam callers.

Tip: I use call screening on any number not saved in my contacts. I send those calls to voicemail and sort them into their own recents lists. To do the same, go to Settings > Phone > turn on "Silence Unknown Callers" or "Ask Reason for Calling." Next, enable "Unknown Callers" and "Spam" to put them into separate recents lists.

You can also add a blocked contact from this same "Blocked Contacts" screen in Settings. Tap "Add Blocked Contact," choose a person from your contacts, and confirm. This works best for people already saved in Contacts.

Tip: If you want to block a random number that just called, the faster route is: Open the Phone app > go to your Recents > tap the Info button next to a number > and select Block Caller on the card.

What happens when I block someone?

When a phone number or contact is blocked, that person can still call and leave a voicemail, but there won't be a notification. Messages they send also won't be delivered.

Will blocked callers know I blocked them?

No. Apple doesn't send them a notification or anything to tell them they were blocked.

Can I search to find blocked contacts?

Yes. From the iPhone home screen, tap Search (or swipe down to open Search), type Blocked Contacts, and tap the result. This will directly open the Blocked Contacts screen described in steps one and two above.
